Just recently, I was able to work with the beautiful model Sydney Olson again! Before we got into the really fun stuff, we did several practice head shots. But they turned out superbly, so I thought I would share :) Enjoy!

Looking at this family's gallery made me realize something, autumn is coming! But I think it made for absolutely beautiful pictures for this adorable little family of three! Their little boy, just barely 1 year old, was busy and on the go almost the entire time. What a fun age for momma and papa as their little one explores and learns about the world around him! I think he finally warmed up to me though as our session together was coming to an end :) I love photographing families, especially with little boys, as I myself am a mom of two little busy boys!  There really is nothing more special in my line of work than showing a family the portraits for the first time, because they become a window to a past moment that can be lived over and over again. Thank you again to the Baytar family for letting me be a small part of your lives!

Growing up in Alaska, I was accustomed to star gazing, particularly in the winter when nighttime sun went down at 3 in the afternoon and came up at 10 in the  morning. There was a lot of time to see the stars. And the northern lights! It is a crying shame that a lot of people in the lower 48 have never been able to see that fantastic light display that was so common place for me.

Here though, I found something maybe just as beautiful. The Milky Way. I've never seen it before, at least not in person. I took my dog Bae, and together we drove out into the middle of the corn fields and set up the camera. Honestly I'd never seen so many stars! It was amazing! I must say, it takes an accomplished photographer to get a good shot, but I tried my best. Even if I didn't do it justice in digital form, it was absolutely spectacular to see!

Recently, I had the immense privilege of being the photographer for a lovely, intimate wedding. Brianna married her sweetheart Will in a beautiful little church in Leon, Iowa. Even though it was incredibly hot out, they powered through the heat and we were able to get some gorgeous pictures of their celebration with family and friends.
