Cupid's Lover
So very rare that beauty this unnoticed goes for long
While gods admire and men aspire to love in words and song
Honored be, this precious gem betrothed to one such Lord
The god of love has found his dove, the gap of men to ford
She never knew, or saw his face, she only felt his kiss
Imagined in her finite mind of that she could not miss
Though tempted by a jealous fate, she brought a candle nigh
When held it to her lovers face beheld the god on high
Forbade she was to look upon his glory in the flesh
His wrath became her nightmare lived and wandering her test
The cold ensued and left her wrought with pain and anguish still
Her weeping sound, for miles around, brought hearts a frigid chill
So as the snow falls to the earth, she’s cursed to task alone
And pine her lover’s favor till the spring and summer come.

The Flower Girl
Long nights she'd spent on this very street
walking, swinging, so light on her feet
She'd carefully painted the rouge on her lips
And pranced with an escort stuck tight to her hips
She'd flaunted her wealth, dancing on aires
She couldn't have known, but would she have cared?
Once she had seen a young girl on the side
Holding a flower, stripped of all pride
"Please buy a flower, miss?" The little thing spoke
her voice was so soft beneath her oversized cloak
Why had she not stopped when she had the chance?
For she now understood why no one paid her a glance
And so she quietly sat with her basket in tow
Holding out flowers, ignored and unknown
Dear girl, this dark vision burned sound in her mind
And taught her the value to forthwith be kind

The Flower Girl is a pictorial narrative of a young aristocratic woman who receives a painful revelation to the future when she sees herself as a flower girl. Too often she passed by the poor and destitute, but seeing herself caused her to stop and turn back. In an instant, she realized, her life could fall apart. She has no idea that in a few short months, the country will suffer one of its greatest economic depressions, and this will be her fate. Though for now, she stoops down and buys the girl's flower.

Enchanting Charm
Bathed golden light amid the trees
A maiden fair, she feels the breeze
The fruit born red beneath her arm
Will not append her with his charm
While something beckons, come to me
She leaves her post and wanders free
What’s this? She finds a burning rose
A beauty midst the pumpkin rows
To pluck it seems too harsh a test
It calls to her, she cannot wrest
Caress and smell, this sweet new thing
Forget your woes, take flight and sing
A trick, well played, has cast a spell
Sweet maiden what’s this lonesome knell
The leaves bear round and catch her fall
To carry her quickly past the wall
The orchard waits upon the hill
They lay her gently, soft and still
And beauty thus in sleeping takes,
Awaits a kiss before she wakes

Sydney Olson, 15 year old Iowa native, models the story "Enchanting Charm" superbly.

The story follows a young maiden, a beauty, who is picking apples in the orchard near her home. When she feels some force pulling her away, she is drawn to the pumpkin patch. There, she finds a single rose blooming amid the vines, left by a malevolent demon to put her to sleep. She plucks it, at first entranced by it's beauty, and slowly seduced by its charm until it lulls her under its spell. The autumn leaves bear her away to the orchard again, where she swoons into an enchanted sleep, there to await her lover's power to break the spell.
